Artistic Story: The Early Years
The start of my artististic story begins in Northern NJ with a simple 20 minute bus ride that got me into Times Square, NYC. I was fortunate enough to have many wonderful teachers for dance, acting, and singing. I started dancing ballet at 7 and I remember my first dream being “I want to be a ballerina”. I danced for 12 years. During that time I also picked up singing in choir. First was choir in an Episcopalian church, which I continued well past when I stopped dancing.
I took a few dance classes here and there, but because of health issues had to stop. I decided in my late 20s to go back to school, and was rewarded with a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management from SUNY Purchase. Since 2020, I have worked tirelessly on my craft. I picked up sewing and started sewing historical costumes since I loved the Renaissance Faires and being a part was another dream of mine.
Artistic Story: The Past few Years
After the pandemic settled down, my artistic story continued as I started making costumes and honing my art, picking up some musical instruments along the way. Having picked up harp in 2014, learning the piano and violin and being able to competently play them at a beginner level was a treat. I decided to try my hand at guitar and have been learning for 2 years.
In the fall of 2024, I saw a friend perform in The Crucible at a small theatre. That theatre asked for volunteers, and I went to the very next audition. I was given a small part and my love of theatre was reborn. I then went on to work at the Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire and started to learn Stage Combat. My dance training has come in handy for that.
For the past year I have been taking voice lessons with a private teacher. My lessons have changed the way I sing for the better. I have high standards for myself, but one thing I always keep in mind is, is this fun? And to that end, I have strived to make sure I keep fun in everything that I do. Catch me making a Dad joke!
My next project comes with Directing. I may be an actor with many talents, but a true passion of mine is seeing the results of a good director pulling a beautiful performance from an actor. I have watched many movies, and I want to emulate some of my favorite cinematic directors. Three of my favorites are Ridley Scott, famous for Alien; Francis Ford Coppola and his 1992 Dracula; and famed actor/director Kenneth Brannagh.
